CHAPTER 24

PETER AND WILL, my new buddies, and I were into our second, or was it third, round and had continued our discussions of the easy sex to be found at TLM before moving on to football, which I enjoyed, and fishing, which I didn’t understand and thought was a boring waste of time, when Nicole and Robin came in.

“Why’d I know I’d find you here?” Nicole said.

“Because you know me.”

Nicole’s damp tee shirt clung to her body and her slightly flushed face and wonderful legs glistened with perspiration. She looked exceptionally sexy, even for her. Will apparently thought so too, his gaze devouring her. I was accustomed to such looks, but with lecherous old Will, I wanted to throw a baseball at his face, maybe his family jewels. That’d cool him off a bit.

I introduced Nicole to Peter and Will. Robin, of course, knew Will, who she hugged, saying, “It’s so good to see you again.”

“You too,” Will said. “I was hoping you’d be working this weekend.”

I noticed that when Robin broke the embrace, she remained snuggled up to Will, his arm casually over her shoulder, her hand flattened against his chest. She looked up at him.

“I need to go clean up and then help Lorie,” Robin said. She broke the embrace. “But I’ll see you later.”

“Yes, you will,” Will said.

She slipped from his embrace and they shared a look. Well, well, there’s a story there. Not really surprising given our earlier conversation about Will and his escapades with the staff here at TLM. He and Robin definitely had a history, and from the exchanged glances, a future.

After Robin left, Peter offered Nicole something from the bar. Sure, why not? She asked for a margarita.

“You’re about the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen,” Will said to Nicole. “I take it you and this dude are together?”

“Yeah,” Nicole said. “Like gum on a shoe, he’s hard to shake.” She punched my arm. “But he’s fun after a couple of drinks.”

Will laughed. “Isn’t that the case with all guys? Fun after a couple and trouble after a half a dozen.”

“I don’t know,” Nicole said. “After Jake has that many, he’s defenseless, and I can have my way with him.”

I started to say she could do that alcohol or not, but she already knew that so I said nothing.

“Darling, I don’t think you need alcohol to seduce old Jake or anyone else. As pretty as your are, I suspect you could do whatever you wanted.” He took a sip of his drink. “Hell, I’d volunteer.”

My new buddy Will not only humped the help, he was also flirting with my girlfriend. That’s “Will the Snake” to you. He seemed less amusing now than he had earlier. Where was a baseball when you needed it?

“That’s very kind of you,” Nicole said, and then as if to brush Will off, she said to Peter, “You make a mean margarita.”

“Better than the ones at Captain Rocky’s?” Peter asked.

“You know about Jake’s place?”

“Like I told Jake earlier, I’ve even been there.
